Free Medicines Help a Family in Need

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

The Naugas being an upscale resort, we don’t have too many lower-income people as guests. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t know any of them.

We know a family down the road that are really good people, but they are down on their luck recently. They missed a couple of payments on credit cards, had some days when the father could not work due to the rains, and pretty soon they were in a deep financial hole of debt.

Then, the mother developed a medical condition (which included a severe persistent headacke and unbearable skin itching) that required some expensive prescription medications. There was no way they could afford those drugs, pills, ointments and medical procedures.

They found a way to get some free medicines that really helped them out. The drug companies actually give away free prescription medicines, and there are some charities and clinics that help out people in need.

The folks down the road are still struggling, but I think they will make it.

Lawyers! Ambien Class Action Lawsuit Due to Sleep Driving

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

We had a lawyer stay with us a couple of weekends ago. He was very friendly and easy to talk with, and knew all the lawyer jokes.

He said he is a tort lawyer or plaintiff’s attorney, who files class action lawsuits against big corporations. He said his firm is working on a class-action Ambien lawsuit, against the company that makes that sleeping pill. I do not know if it’s true or not, but he said that Ambien can cause sleep disturbances, including sleep driving.

Sleep driving?? He said that some people, after they have taken Ambien and gone to bed, can get up and drive their cars around while they are asleep. It’s like sleepwalking, but a lot more dangerous for everyone involved…and people have been in bad sleep-driving auto accidents after taking Ambien and not even known it.

He said his company is working on a class-action lawsuit, and he hopes they win because there will be a lot of money involved. He hopes to receive enough money that he will have to set up a bypass trust to prevent the IRS from getting most of his estate.

We wished him well. Now, I better go write down some of those lawyer jokes he told before I forget them!

Oh, before I forget, I’m sure that Ambien is a legal trademark of its manufacturer.
